Apple harvest and cider making 2025

September – when the Apples are ripe

Location: The Orchard

The main crop of apples were ripe very early this year and unlike last year in great abundance in and around Chorleywood. We picked and pressed a mix of dessert, cider, cooking and crab apples in order to try and make the perfect brew and a mixture of eaters and cookers for our special own apple juice. These are then all pressed into juice at Chiltern Ridge https://www.chilternridge.com in Chartridge.

Our 2024 crop of apples

Once pressed all our brewing equipment was prepared, some special yeast and yeast nutrients added and we started the magic of turning juice into cider! The 2024 brew turned out to be a cracker hopefully this 2025 will be even better. Early signs are it will certainly be a little stronger given the high sugar content of the apples. Why not join the cider club and become a Friend of Chorleywood Community Orchard, sample some of our produce and get involved in the process next year.
