This was by far the best Wassail the Community Orchard has seen since it was planted. So good, we are almost guaranteed a good crop this year! Aren’t we?
A candle lit procession was led by members of Lemon Tuesday singing us into the heart of the Orchard where some warming mulled cider was served to all as the ceremony began. Singing to the trees, giving up offerings of cider and apple juice and beating off evil spirits were all carried out to ensure a good crop in the Autumn. Finally, a new King and Queen of the Orchard were crowned before the procession dispersed home and, of course, to the pub. Our Friends of the Orchard and Cider Club members moved to the Old Shepherd for a post wassail party and to celebrate the previous year’s crop. All in all a great evening.
